28th August - 25th September at Arebyte Gallery (Unit 4, 49 White Post Lane, Queens Yard, London E9 5EN)

Commissioned by Arebyte New Media and Performance Gallery and taking place at multiple venues across London in 2015, thickear Records Store was a new interactive, transactional art experiment by the thickear collective.

Presented as an audience participatory installation, the project centred on creating moments of exchange between audience and artist relating to everyday transactions of personal information on social media platforms, within civil bureaucracy and through contemporary consumerism.

thickear Records Store offered visitors the chance to take away limited edition thickear cassette tapes with personalised sleeves in exchange for their own personal data. The sleeves and the contents of the tapes themselves were assembled from participant’s answers during a one-to-one consultation with a thickear artist. A second copy of the data collected was kept and placed in record racks for public display.
